My professional career has spanned everything from market intelligence to working for ad agencies and non-profits, but I currently spend the bulk of my time in automotive design. Designers, engineers and product people all need direction on how to make their creations game-changers, and I give them answers. I’ve worked on every type of vehicle – from brands like Hyundai and Kia to Range Rover and Maserati.
All of this has helped craft my on philosophy on the projects I personally take on. My own creative creed always encompasses three things:
Simplicity – I want the outcome to feel pure and unadulterated – beauty without the noise. The deeper you look, the more you should see ….
Distinctiveness – There should to be something entirely unique about the end result. You shouldn’t see it anywhere else; Also, it needs a backstory, one that can be told a million billion times without anyone getting bored.
Repurposing beautiful things – Conspicuous consumption gives me a rash. Don’t get me wrong, we all need to evolve, but heritage, longevity and ‘hood provenance’ count more.
