CARMA
My love of anything with wheels inspired me to start a automotive blog called carmaautolife (CARMA for short). This was pre-IG/TikTok/FB, so I got likes, mentions and views the oldschool way … through people actually being interested in the content. lol!
I only profiled misfits and nincompoops – cars that were deftly unique or that people knew nothing about. I’d travel to shows, events, people’s houses; I’d stop people on the street just to capture the details of what they had built. Carma was all about authenticity, and people loved it.
CREATIVE MORNINGS
In 2018 someone approached out of the blue to start a Creative Mornings chapter –
Creative Mornings is the world’s largest creative community, hosting events in over 200 cities worldwide. The concept is simple: once a month host a breakfast and short talk on a compelling topic to inspire your local creative community.
– so I co-founded CreativeMornings OC to energize Orange County’s visionaries. We had speakers like Bono’s personal chef, an iconic graffiti artist, NHL building developer, Vans product lead, modern gallerists – our speaker list was mad crazy.
MINA
Out of university I worked as a Financial Analyst at Shell corporate. I died inside. My career lifted off when I created MINA, a seminal market intelligence agency that focused on subcultures, influencers, trends, and early adopters.
Back then I was known as a ‘Cool Hunter’, chasing down anything and everything cool. I had 80 operatives working for me in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. My clients included: Fashion retailers, professional sports teams, food makers, beer makers, clothing makers, and car makers. Best job I’ve ever had.
USC
A few years ago, one of my clients me to co-present at a USC graduate business class they’d been invited to. We showed-up with some examples of the work I’d done for them in sportscars, did some exercises with the students – it was a rocking good time.
Since then, the Prof at invites be back every year to guest lecture at not one, but two, classes. I love doing it. The funny thing is, the client doesn’t know that I’m still teaching it. Hahaha!! Shhhhhhh.
